This is the Ruhl Builds model garage which serves as our workshop. With this building, we needed to balance cost, function and style.

The design is simple; a 3-bay form with a gable roof. We prefer simpler forms for utility buildings because they are easier to build and detail well without breaking the bank.

What makes this building stand out is our choices in materials and the attention to detail.

We used cedar bevel siding (one of our favourite materials) which instantly evokes a feeling of vintage quality and provides incredible texture without embellishment. We stain our siding on site which allows us to use Western Red Cedar instead of pre-finished spruce or pine for the same price.

Salvaged windows and our own custom built sliding cedar clad barn doors finished the building beautifully while minimizing cost.
